Common Questions
Straightforward answers to the questions we hear most from patients across Surrey and Berkshire.
What conditions do you treat?
Dr Malik specialises in a broad spectrum of painful conditions, including back pain, sciatica, joint pain (knee, hip, shoulder), neuropathic pain, sports injuries, cervicogenic headaches, chronic widespread pain, and complex regional pain syndrome. If you’re unsure whether your condition falls within his scope of practice, please contact the team — we’re happy to advise.
How long does a consultation last?
An initial consultation with Dr Malik typically lasts 30 minutes. This allows sufficient time for a thorough review of your pain history, a targeted physical assessment, imaging review, and a detailed discussion of your diagnosis and treatment options. Follow-up appointments are usually 15 minutes.
Are you accepting new patients?
Yes — Dr Malik is currently accepting new self-pay and insured patients at all clinic locations. Most patients can be seen within days of enquiring. Call 020 8087 0022 or email office@drjsmalik.com to check availability and book.
Are treatments painful?
Only local anaesthetic (numbing medication) is used during the procedure itself. All treatments are performed under real-time imaging guidance for maximum accuracy and safety. Any post-procedural soreness typically settles within 24–48 hours.
How soon can I return to normal activities?
Most of Dr Malik’s interventional procedures have very short recovery periods — many patients return to light daily activities the same day or the following day. Specific guidance is provided before your procedure based on the treatment you receive. Procedures are performed as day-case procedures (walk in, walk out).
